Contemporary Aboriginal inspired abstract by Menno Modderman.
Contemporary Aboriginal inspired abstract by Menno Modderman, a Dutch artist painting in the south of France, signed and dated to the bottom on the passepartout.
Working for several years now as an artist in his atelier in Cotignac in the south of France, Menno, who is better known for his highly detailed and realistic paintings has now turned his brush to exciting new abstract works, in this case inspired by Aboriginal art.
Menno's paintings are not just interesting in their form and colour but also their texture. Each painting has a different background created by overlapping colours to create the feeling of base materials such as metal, leather, linen. This piece is painted on linen laid on card and gives an effect of tan leather. The dots ( Aboriginal inspired ) also give the painting a worked leather effect. The painting can be viewed from above as a map or simply as shapes to be interpreted by the viewer.
Menno has created five works in this series of Aboriginal inspired art. All are available on 1st Dibs and would make a wonderful collection.
