Ahlan Achoy was known for his figurative art and portraiture often in the cubist style. This colourful abstract is unusual in its departure from his earlier works and is more expressionist in style, vibrant and full of energy.

The energetic almost frenetic brushstrokes are very reminiscent of works by Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock, two of the great abstract expressionists whose aim was not to paint the form or shape of the subject but simply the feeling that the subject evoked in them.
